Location
The Cairns Adventist College is situated just over 2km from the town centre of Gordonvale. Gordonvale is situated on the southern side of Cairns in the Cairns Region, Queensland. Gordonvale, a sugar milling town, with a lovely town park and the buildings in the main street have a quiet historic charm.
Gordonvale was established on Yidinji tribal land, and initially was called Mulgrave and then Nelson. The name Gordonvale was settled on as a tribute to John Gordon, a pioneer in the district who was a butcher, dairyman and grazier and early director of Mulgrave Central Sugar Mill.
Only 30 minutes to the CBD of Cairns, Gordonvale is a community that is built on county values. A place where you will find old-fashioned service with a smile, where the shop keepers know your name, a town you can buy gifts from the florist, gift-wrapped for free, where the Post Office delivers your mail even if the address is incomplete. In today’s world of people leading more demanding lifestyles, it is a place to relax and soak up the country charm.
